Our Studio Policy
We believe it’s always best to communicate clearly. So here’s our Studio Policy on these items:
Tuition
Tuition for private piano, voice, and ukulele lessons is billed per studio year, August-May, and is divided into 10 equal monthly payments. Students are offered 34 lessons during the studio year. All-inclusive tuition includes private lessons, recitals, and opportunities to learn in enrichment workshops. There are no extra fees during the year.
Tuition for preschool group piano classes is billed per semester (September-December and February-May), and is divided into 4 equal monthly payments. All inclusive tuition includes weekly group classes and performance opportunities, showcasing to family and friends what the student has been learning.
Level-payment tuition will be invoiced on the 1st every month (August-May) and will be paid through automatic, pre-authorized debit or credit card. Whether there are 5 lessons or 3 lessons in a particular month, for consistency the tuition fee remains the same. An annual tuition increase will take effect on August 1st.
A non-refundable, studio fee will cover ALL additional needs the student will have including method books, supplementary music, and a piano bag (private lesson students only), access to in-studio technology/music theory games, student incentives and awards. The yearly studio fee is split in half and will be added at the beginning of each semester.
What does my tuition include? Your investment goes beyond the weekly private lessons or group classes. When you enroll with Keys to Praise, your lesson slot is reserved for you and you alone. Tuition also encompasses a suite of enrichment experiences including workshops, masterclasses, and recitals. These collective offerings are designed to supplement your student’s musical education providing a well-rounded, comprehensive journey. Finally, tuition includes time spent in preparation for each lesson or group class, researching and purchasing appropriate method books and supplemental music for each student, planning and preparing theory games, teacher continued education to enhance lessons, and maintenance of pianos and piano studio.
Summer Session tuition will be invoiced at the beginning of the 6-week session and paid through automatic, pre-authorized debit or credit card. There is no registration fee for the summer session and there are no make-up lessons for any lessons missed by a student. Missed lessons due to a teacher’s absence will be rescheduled.
Missed Lessons
Your lesson time is reserved just for you. There will be no make-ups or refunds for lessons missed due to student forgetting to attend a lesson. The teacher will use that time to plan for the student’s progress. If a student is unable to attend a lesson in person, an online lesson may be offered instead.
With 24 hour notice, students enrolled in private lessons may be eligible for a make-up lesson. If there is another available slot that week (such as another student’s absence), that time will be offered, but due to limited space and scheduling constraints a make-up lesson is not guaranteed. If a make-up lesson has been arranged and a student cancels or no-shows, that lesson time is forfeited.
Should you need to miss a lesson, we encourage you to keep the music playing! Continued practice reinforces a student’s skills and prepares them for a complete return at the following lesson.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice are not eligible for a make-ups, refunds, or credits. There are no make-ups for group classes. Missed lessons due to a teacher’s absence will be rescheduled.
Please note: the studio offers other learning opportunities such as workshops, masterclasses, and recitals that are included in student’s tuition and also serve to supplement the occasional missed lesson.
Discontinued Lessons
Students are encouraged to commit to lessons for the duration of the semester, and preferably the school year, and work through the inevitable ups and downs inherent in learning to play an instrument. Should discontinuation of lessons mid year be necessary, the decision should be made with thoughtful communication between parent, student and teacher so that lessons can end positively. A 30-day written notice is required on the 1st of the month prior to discontinuing lessons for the following month. No refunds are given for lessons that are not taken.
